The Health Sector Development Plan 2012 - 2016 for South Sudan was published in 2012 and forms the basis for health planning over the coming years. Progress will have been delayed by the impact of skirmishes with Sudan on its Northern border and the loss of income from the discontinued export of oil. The plan, however, gives the most up to date assessment of the health of the population in the country.
