Details:

44 million people worldwide are living with dementia with an economic cost of 1% of global GDP. The number living with dementia is predicted to nearly double every 20 years.

The G8 Dementia Summit held in London in December, 2013 was the first attempt to shape a global response and to identify a cure or a disease-modifying therapy by 2025.

This was followed by a meeting in London of several organisations involved in work related to dementia - the Dementia Legacy Event - and more recently by a WHO report - Dementia : A Public Health Priority.
